"The World is a very complex system. It is easy to have too simple a view of it, and it is easy to do harm and to make things worse under the impulse to do good and make things better" - Kenneth Boulding (ISSS/SGSR president 1957, 1958).
The communities in the systems sciences are interrelated and may be recognized with other names: general systems theory, cybernetics, systems dynamics, complexity, ecosystem ecology, systems psychology, educational development, systems biology, urban systems, etc.
The systems sciences draws together deep thinkers across a variety of disciplines. Through conversations, we share our understandings of the ways that the world works, and paths by which we can individually and collectively develop.
"The systems approach begins when first you see the world through the eyes of another" - C. West Churchman (ISSS president, 1989).
This meetup group was founded by members of the International Society for the Systems Sciences (http://isss.org) as a grassroots initiative to open up to the local community. If you're interested in meeting with other interdisciplinary thinker, you're welcome to come by for a casual chat.
"If you want to create a change, you must challenge not only the models of Unreality, but the paradigms that underwrite them" - Stafford Beer, (ISSS/SGSR president, 1971).
