I am passionate about Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and the incredible benefits that can come from the simple act of tapping on specific points on the body while holding an intention for healing. It sometimes seems too good to be true yet, as a practitioner, I've seen too many successful results to doubt its power. I want to continue to spread and share this amazing technique with the Washington DC community.

To that end, we will have weekly or bi-weekly meetups to tap together on a number of different themes, such as Letting Go of Stress and Anxiety, Finding Pain Relief, and Creating More Abundance. I aim to foster a light-hearted and playful environment in which we can explore this highly effective healing modality together. Anyone is welcome, whether you've done EFT for years or are completely new to the technique.

About Emotional Freedom Techniques

EFT or "Tapping" is a modality that combines the principles of the Chinese meridian system with modern psychology. Think of what would result if the Yellow Emperor and Carl Jung procreated (well, kind of). EFT stimulates the body's acupuncture points, however, rather than using needles, light tapping is used. Tapping allows the body’s physical energy system to engage with the mind, helping align the two.

Thus, EFT works with our natural ‘mind-body’ connection – the interplay of which is so often overlooked by conventional medicine. Tapping on specific acupressure points while focusing on a problem or unpleasant physical sensation helps to alleviate or ‘lift’ the excessive negative charge from the associated feeling. Stuck, blocked or pent up energy in our bodies can be the root cause of all sorts of mental and/or physical problems and cause a disruption in the body's natural healing flow. Using EFT helps reduce/relieve and can even remove the negative charge. Recent research shows that acupoint stimulation produces a calming effect on the amygdala – the brain's emotional center – allowing formerly disturbing memories and emotions to be accessed without hyper-arousal. Acupoint stimulation is also associated with increased levels of serotonin and dopamine in the body and reduced cortisol, the “stress hormone”.

EFT has been clinically proven to be effective in treating many issues that prevent us from living a more holistic, joyful life such as ongoing stress/anxiety, fears and phobias, depression, insomnia, physical pain, trauma, cravings, among many others. It is also highly effective for pain relief.
