What we’re about
The Houston Tarot Meetup is Houston's largest, and longest running Tarot Meetup Group. We meet in a central Houston, and are committed to learning & sharing knowledge about all things Tarot. We have been meeting since 2003, and our Organizer Doug R., has been leading the group since 2005. Doug's original Tarot teacher Pat Rickard and long-time group member Mary Lou Ramirez are Assistant Organizers.
Members: As of June 2022, we have 2045 members on Meetup and 261 members in our Facebook Group. At one time we had members from 8 different Countries, and 25 States. We meet in person in Houston, although all are welcome here!
Who attends? Everyone is welcome to attend! Some attendees are complete beginners, while others are professional / life-long readers. We are committed to providing an open, safe, supportive and professional environment to learn and discuss Tarot. We are committed to being respectful, courteous and kind to all.
Monthly Meetups: We typically meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month except for November & December. Check Meetup & Facebook for updated info. on monthly Meetups along with dates for November & December. We have meet at various locations over the years, but have been meeting in the private room a Jax Grill (I-10 & Shepherd) for many years now.
Typical Meetup Agenda:
6 p.m. - People start gathering to order dinner and chat with others prior to Meetup.
7p.m. - Meetup starts with collection of $10 fee, introductions, show-n-tell Tarot items, door prizes, announcements, etc.
7:15p.m. - Meetup presentation or speakers begins. This usually includes some type of a handout related to the presentation.
8:45p.m. - Meetup usually ends around this time.
Our Meetups usually have part lecture and teaching, and interactive discussion. We cover a variety of Tarot related topics each year, and many continue to learn new things that they have never noticed about the Tarot in the past. At times we do exercises with each other that are similar to Tarot readings. This however, is not the place to come just for a Tarot reading.
We encourage you to bring your favorite deck, a notebook, and a friend. We do our best to make everyone feel welcome, and have a good time.
