Garry,

Several years ago, country music singer George Jones acquired the title of "No Show Jones."  Jones acquired the title because of  repeated  failures to appear for scheduled performances.  Supposedly, the reason why Jones didn't show for the performances was because of a persistant problem with alcohol.
The Texas version of a "No Show" performer is Kelly Hancock, Republican candidate for Texas Senate District 9.  For the second time in one month Hancock failed to show up for a previously scheduled candidates' forum at TCC's NE campus.  The first forum was was scheduled for October 1st, last night's forum had been scheduled over a week ago.

Hancock, the "Silver Spoon Candidate" sent a representative as a mouthpiece.  Hancock's representative proudly announced that Hancock has "No Agenda."

In the midst of the worst economy since World War II, the Legislature facing its most serious budget crisis in many years,  a state government dictated to by Austin's muscular lobbies, and a Governor's slush fund delivering millions in taxpayers money to bankrupt firms -  and Hancock hasn't a clue on how to confront the issues.

In all fairness, Pete Martinez, the Democrat candidate didn't show for the forum either.  I spoke with Pete earlier and he revealed that he had a fundraiser commitment in Austin.  I've never had the opportunity to debate issues with Kelly.  Is this what Hancock's mouthpiece meant by accessibility?

But we all have priorities, I had a TCADP meeting to attend at the same time as the TCC candidates forum.  Meeting organizers were called in advance explaining that students and other county voters were more important.

It's now clear, that Hancock's strategy is to ride into office on Romney's coattails.

Although some will disagree with parts of McElwee's Libertarian "Action Plan," it represents a less government starting point.  With both the Republican and Democrat candiates - nothing but absenteeism and hope.  And "Hope" doesn't solve pressing problems.

If Texans elect Kelly Hancock as their next state senator, we will have a "No Show - No Agenda" candidate.  Austin's muscular lobbies just love these sort of legislators.  Their easy pickins.
