What is your background in text analytics?

I lead and am building a capability in text mining for part of the RAF. I deal with mostly unstructured classified data; researched (2009) and then procured (2010) a software based solution. Since then I have been building and testing multiple dictionaries to support 'bigger' analysis. I want to share ideas and experiences to maintain currency in the subject, improve my current capability, and introduce it to other parts of the RAF and Defence.

What platforms/toolkits/approaches are you familiar with?

I use a suite of software from Provalis - QDA Miner, WordStat and SimStat. I chose these following research and testing in 2009. Excellent value, good for the sort of things I want to do, a little different and quirky, good communication and responses from the company, and none of the glossy hard sell that other vendors used.
