The New Easy Riders Bicycle Touring Group is based on the original meetup Bay Area Easy Riders Bicycle Touring Group. We continue to promote, guide and support interesting, really fun bicycle tours along with bicycle safety information. We follow the Rules of the Road and good bicycle etiquette. We do require HELMETS!
We emphasize combining bicycles with public transportation (BART, Amtrak, Cal trans, Ferry, light rail) to reach trails that cover the entire Bay area. Our rides are at a social pace, so that we can enjoy the wonderful scenery and generally cover 20-25 miles, sometimes more, sometimes less. Snack/lunch and hydration breaks are a great time to get further acquainted with other cyclists.
Helmets, along with a good working bicycle and a moderate degree of fitness is required. Recommended are extra bike tube, water, snacks, gloves, sunglasses, sunscreen and a zest for exploration and making new friends.
Layered clothing for weather changes is also very good. A warm day can turn cloudy, cool or rainy and a protective wind/rain jacket can make a difference between being comfortable or miserable! Wear a snug cap under your helmet and a wrap around your throat for cool windy days so you don't experience brain freeze! Gloves...check!
Our support Team includes very experienced and knowledgeable cyclists, including a licensed bicycle safety instructor. Safe bicycling is a great way to explore and enjoy new vistas, get in better shape, live fully with great pleasure and make fun new friends.
"Since the bicycle makes little demand on material or energy resources, contributes little to pollution, makes a positive contribution to health and causes little death or injury, it can be regarded as the most benevolent of machines." Stuart S. Wilson
