What we’re about
The Thinkers’ Club is a discussion group intended to provide a fun, non-judgmental forum to share and debate intellectual and philosophical ideas with other critical thinkers. Come prepared to share concepts from history, philosophy, politics, religion, sociology, psychology, etc. that have influenced your thinking.
Members of all creeds, backgrounds, and walks of life are encouraged to attend. At The Thinkers' Club, we believe that intellectual discourse is best when we can explore - not dictate - views. On that note, bring an open mind and a friendly tolerance/respect for others' ideas.
Events are held virtually via Zoom.

Cultural evolution in the era of globalization presents both opportunities and challenges. Globalization facilitates the spread of ideas, customs, and technologies across borders, leading to cultural exchange and hybridization. However, this interconnectedness also poses a threat to the preservation of traditional cultural practices and languages, as they can be overshadowed by dominant global cultures. Efforts to preserve culture amidst globalization often involve a delicate balance between embracing diversity and maintaining authenticity.
- How can communities navigate the fine line between cultural preservation and adaptation to changing circumstances?
- Is it possible for cultures to coexist and influence each other without leading to assimilation?
- Are there universal aspects of human culture that persist despite the forces of evolution?
- What lessons can we learn from historical examples of cultural resilience in the face of change?
- Should there be global ethical guidelines for the preservation of cultural heritage?
- What are the potential consequences of losing indigenous languages, and how can language preservation efforts be strengthened?

Global poverty is a multifaceted phenomenon encompassing a range of issues, from lack of food and shelter to horrendous working conditions and lack of access to education. While solutions like aid interventions and education programs offer a glimmer of hope, they often encounter obstacles like corruption, bureaucratic inefficiencies, and dependency traps, which hinder their effectiveness. The challenge lies in finding sustainable approaches that address the root causes of poverty without inadvertently perpetuating dependency or exacerbating social disparities.
- What are the primary factors contributing to global poverty?
- What are some examples of successful poverty alleviation efforts, and what lessons can we learn from them?
- How can technology be harnessed to address the challenges of poverty, and what are the potential drawbacks?
- What role do cultural norms and societal attitudes play in perpetuating or alleviating poverty?
- How can individuals, communities, and businesses contribute to poverty alleviation efforts, both locally and globally?
