Re: [TheBBG] What games do you play?

Both The Resistance and Avalon,

Are based on Werewolf mechanics. Avalon is based on King Arthur and Merlin, a little more involved than The Resistance. There is another of these games, which I love playing, The Sultans of Karaya. It is more involved than The Resistance. Generally, I think that the more players in these games you have, the better the game. These games can play a decent amount of players for a little over an hour or so.

I don't generally like co-op games, but, I love these where you don't know who is on your team, as the ones above. I love Battlestar Galactica. I like Pandemic, it is a good game. I'm just not as big a fan as I am of these other games.

Dominon is a different game each time. From the selection of about 186 different, what are called Kingdom Cards, a set of 10 cards are selected, usually randomly. The set of 10 cards may add some other cards, such as more money and victory point cards into the game. Some cards will bring some other Kingdom cards into the game. Some cards and/or combinations of cards can be quite powerful. Sometimes, you don't realize how powerful, until someone who knows how to use them, uses them against you.

Another recently released game that I love to play is Trajan. It is a worker placement type game, with many ways to get points. It has a mechanism called a mancala, where you have cubes in circles, in which those circles are in a circle. There are about 6 sets of 2 colors. When it is your turn, the first thing that you will do, is to pick up all of the cubes from one circle and as you move clockwise from the first circle, you will deposit one of the cubes in each circle you come to, until you are out of cubes. The circle that you put your last cube is your action that you will take that turn. Also, there are Trajan Tiles, that go next to the circles with the cubes in them. The Trajan Tiles give you various things, which you obtain once you can "build" (?) them. The Trajan Tiles will have 2 colors at the top of the tile. If you stop your turn in a circle, where there is a Trajan Tile, in which 2 of the colored cubes in the circle match the 2 colors on the Trajan Tile, you will then get the thing that the Trajan Tile gives you, otherwise, they do not give you anything.

Hope to see some of you at Play On Con,

Game On,

William
