Dear Valued Members:
Welcome to our many new members and a few reminders to our veterans!
There are so many GREAT shows playing at any given time in the greater Bay Area that one person simply cannot give even a fraction of them the justice they deserve. I am asking our current Assistant Organizers as well as all our members, to become more active.
Scheduling Meetups, posting reviews and sharing ideas is crucial to making the most of this group. I am currently ushering for Cavalia (www.cavalia.net) which has me working 6 days a week. That is why I haven't scheduled any new Meetups for some time. The show is pure visual and aural splendor and I highly recommend it!
Become an AO
If you have a show or company you'd like to promote, please let me know and I'll designate you as an Assistant Organizer. As an AO you can post your own Meetups and e-mail the group. I know I'd like to see Dragons (the circus), War Horse, The Book of Mormon and several other upcoming shows, but with the uncertainty of my schedule and finances, I have been unable to plan in advance.
I've heard great things about Chicago at City Lights and regret missing Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson and The One Man Lord of the Rings. I did get a chance to see Humor Abuse at ACT and HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! Lorenzo Pisoni is an absolutely BRILLIANT physical comedian, actor and clown.
If you are interested in becoming an AO or donating a few dollars to help pay for the group... (I have never asked for dues before, but since being laid off from my full-time position last December, this has become increasingly a hardship), please let me know.
Newer members have already seen these, but for our old timers, please give this a quick read...
A few suggestions...
1. When you attend a good show, please take a moment to post a short review of it, suggest it, or let others know about it! If you find yourself with an extra ticket, even at the last minute, post it on the message board, you might be able to sell it or meet a great new friend.
2. Please RSVP a YES as early as possible. Never a need to RSVP a NO - unless you have a specific reason to do so OR are canceling. (If you don't RSVP, then we know you aren't attending.) Please post a specific reason for a NO - ONLY if it is important for the organizers or other members to know.
3. Please REVIEW each Meetup. If you had a great time, let others know about it, post pix and help us to grow the group. A larger active membership will help us to achieve the numbers required for group discounts and specials. Consider posting to Facebook and Twitter etc... this also helps us to recruit new members. If you bring a guest, encourage them to join!
Thanks again and I hope to see YOU in a theatre soon!
