Church of Beatitudes (UCC) is hosting Father Roy Bourgeois visit in Phoenix \weekend Feb 8-9. Father Bourgeosis is a dedicated peace activist who is well known for his outspoken critiques of U.S. foreign policy in Latin American and his strong support for women's ordination which resulted in his excommunication and dismissal from the Maryknoll Order. He is the founder of the School of Americas Watch, an organization that is dedicated to closing the military training program at Fort Benning, which has trained thousands of US and Latin American military and police officers in methods of political coercion, torture and execution. The annual November protests at Fort Benning draw thousands. Bourgeois and SOA Watch were nominated as a candidate for the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize. - Rehearsal is at 2 and concert starts at 4 -

Lynne Haeseler is coordinating a collaborative concert with Father Bourgeois and the Harp Foundation. The concert - "Heart of the Visionary" - weaves words, music and audience participation into a reflective, whole performance. Admission is $12. Support Father Bourgeois by coming to the concert or participating in it! A chanting choir will sing Taize chants and rounds---simple music and easy to learn.There is one rehearsal f -- Saturday, Feb 8, 2- 3pm. The concert starts at 4pm concert at the Church of Beatitudes. This is an exceptional opportunity to come together in solidarity and support Father Bourgeois, who has the courage to speak out for human rights, equality and justice.
