The workshop will be taught by Mae Chapman, Casting Director of Chapman Casting Company, LLC. A New Orleans, Louisiana native, graduated from Xavier University Preparatory High School where she studied drama, music and voice with well-known New Orleans Jazz recording artist, Germaine Bazile.  Her introduction to film casting began with Producer, Wayne Morgan, who is a Producer/Organizer of Louisiana Produces’ Film Meet-up Group and the owner of Upper Line Entertainment, LLC. She gained more experience casting as an Extra Casting with another Louisiana company, BAM Casting.  Both Upperline and BAM gave her the aim and access needed to work on SAG movies like “In the Electric Mist”, which starred Tommy Lee Jones.  Her vast network of producers, writers, actors, production crew and directors helped her achieve and complete several SAG/AFTRA projects which include,

Disney Projects: “Sunday, Sunday, Sunday”, “Imagination Movers”

Foreign Film Project: “Forgive Me Not”

Mae Chapman is an Actor’s Mentor, Casting Director and Writer (Theatrical, Screen) and has now launched her own casting company, Chapman Casting Company, LLC. She is noted as the First African American Film Casting Director in Louisiana. Mae Chapman manages a small, but effective staff that is regional.  With her business savvy and warm, sincere nature, CCC has successfully casted their debut project on the OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) Mysterious Diagnosis’s segment which aired January 8, 2011. Chapman Casting Company, LLC has also worked with Grammy Award winning, Casting Director, Peter Wise on Debbie Allen’s musical theatrical project, “The Twist”. Chapman Casting Company has also cast projects with the History Channel, “History of the World”, “Jerome High Scream Team”- Upperline Entertainment, “Daisy Chain”- Tom Krueger Project, and has worked with UNO Film Student, Craig Carter on projects such as “Preaching Silence” and now currently SAG-Student Film, “Red Bean Monday”.

She is also the Community Organizer and Producer of the Lafayette Film Music and TV Meetup Group. She currently has 470 members that meet monthly.  The group is comprised of directors, producers, crew and actors that share information and gain knowledge of the Film Industry in Louisiana. Their motto is Helping You Reach Dreams in the Film Industry.
