MOONGAZER HIKE & POTLUCK

Details
Hey Everyone,
Let's do Parker Mesa and watch the moon travel across the sky as the sun sets over the west. We'll watch the twinkling lights come up in Santa Monica and overlook the majestic Pacific ocean. Sounds terrible, doesn't it?
This is a bitchen hike that begins at Trippet Ranch in Topanga State Park and travels on rolling terrain between dramatic Topanga and Santa Inez canyons on wide fire roads that will take us to the overlook. Once there, we’ll be rewarded with views of the Pacific ocean and the Los Angeles basin. We’ll enjoy our snacks and drinks as we watch the twinkling lights come up. There’s a good chance we’ll spot the deer feeding in the meadow at the start of the hike.
We’ll be packing in our food and beverages so please contribute your favorites. Alchohol in limited (yeah right) quantities is great! Please be prepared to carry out your own trash/bottles, etc.
We're leaving promptly at 5:30 so if you're late, you can catch up with us at the mesa. We'll be doing some of this hike in the dusk/dark.
DISTANCE: 6 Miles out and back
ELEV GAIN/LOSS: 800 ft. cummulative
TRAIL: Wide fire road
DURATION: Who cares? It's a party!
This hike is great for fit beginners as well as the advanced hiker.
DIRECTIONS:
From the 101 fwy heading south towards LA, exit at Topanga Canyon Boulevard and turn right. Drive 8 miles into Topanga Canyon to Entrada Road and turn left. Stay to the left at every opportunity until you reach the park's main parking lot, about one mile up.
From PCH, travel north on Topanga Canyon Boulevard, then turn right on Entrada Road.
Parking is $10 in the park, but there is (limited) street parking. I HIGHLY SUGGEST CARPOOLING.
