ZUMA CANYON HIKE 'N BRUNCH

Hey Everyone,

Let's get out in the gorgeous late summer weather down at the beach and do a bitchen canyon hike with spectacular ocean views! YAY!

After half a mile of easy going trail on the canyon floor, the hike starts a strong climb to the ridgeline but it's well worth being rewarded with the views at the top!

The walls of the canyon offer unusual, volcanic outcroppings and shapes, which add a nice visual interest. Then it's downhill all the way! We'll finish off the hike with brunch at the Coral Beach Cantina. They have something for everyone, including really yummy homemade jalapeno corn bread that I wrote about in my blog here:

Dogs are allowed on this one, but not at restaurant afterwards.

DISTANCE: 3 miles

ELEV. GAIN: 750 ft.

TRAIL: looped, single track, packed earth trail with some sandy parts.

DIRECTIONS: Take Kanan Dume Road to PCH and make a right. Go about 1 mile and turn right on Bonsall Drive at the bottom of the hill. Keep a sharp eye out for the turn because it comes up on you quickly (if you pass Zuma Beach, you've gone too far). Drive north on Bonsall Drive for one more mile to the dirt parking lot at the end of the road.
