HIKE, CAVE, EAT

Hey Everyone,

Let's do a great hike, snake our way through a 100 foot cave, and have brunch on giant slabs of rock overlooking the entire Simi Valley!

FYI: The cave exploration is optional and not part of the hike.

This is a spectacular loop hike that will take us to a rocky overlook where we'll do a cave exploration, take in the views, and have our brunch.

We will consolidate cars on Kuehner and head over to where we'll start the hike on the Rocky Peak Road trailhead about 1/2 a mile up. We’ll be heading up the Rocky Peak Trail for .8 miles with an elevation gain of just over 500 feet. This part is a bit of a butt-kicker, but it's all downhill after that on a nice scenic trail that takes us to our brunch site. We’ll head back to the cars on the rest of the Hummingbird Trail which is a bit over 2 miles with an elevation loss of 875 feet.

Distance: approx. 3.5 miles

Elev. gain/loss: approx. 1000 ft.

Duration: 3-4 hours

Please bring a breakfast or brunch food/beverage item to share. We'll be packing in the goodies to share at the top.

DIRECTIONS: Heading east on the 118 freeway towards the Valley, exit Kuehner Road and turn left going under the freeway. The dirt parking lot will be at the end of the road on your right.
