New Meetup: Macrobiotic Dinner ~ Palo Alto ~ "Vegan Soul Kitchen"

Announcing a new Meetup for Bay Area Lovers of Vegetarian Dining [Group]!

What: Macrobiotic Dinner ~ Palo Alto ~ "Vegan Soul Kitchen"

When: Monday, April 26,[masked]:30 PM

Peninsula Macrobiotic Monday Dinner
305 North California Avenue First Baptist Church
Palo Alto, CA

^ this looks yummy!!

Curious to explore Macrobiotic/Vegan food? Want to see what a meal is like? Looking for a good excuse to leave work early on a Monday?!?

Its very rare to find a restaurant that is fully Macrobiotic, so we have exciting "fringe" dining opportunities available due to a dedicated community of Macrobiotic foodies. Specifically, the Peninsula Macrobiotic Community.

Though many people are familiar with this group, its actually new to me and I've never been to their Monday dinner. I'm looking forward to trying out this new vegetarian food experience!

From the website "This is a full vegan dinner which includes soup, grain, beans or bean products, vegetables, dessert, and beverage, prepared by expert natural foods Chef Gary Alinder"

The cost is $15 (CASH ONLY) for a fixed menu, here is what they are serving this night:

Inspirations from Bryant Terry's "Vegan Soul Kitchen"

Mustard Greens and Roasted Yam Soup
Smothered Seitan Medallions with Mushroom Gravy
Red Beans and Rice
Roasted Root Vegetables with Garlic Lime Sauce
Cabbage-Carrot-Cayenne Cole Slaw
Pecan-Coconut Lace Cookies
Mint Tea

That sounds incredibly delicious!

RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED IN ADVANCE, so I have set the RSVP limit to 10pm Sunday evening so I can call Monday AM with final headcount.

--->> CASH ONLY <<--- important detail !!!

To accommodate all the diners, and because its a private chef & group, they utilize the hall space through a church, but this is not a spiritual or religious event:

The First Baptist Church, 305 North California Avenue at Bryant
1/4 mile east of Alma, Palo Alto, CA. There are two buildings on the church grounds, the main church and a smaller building (Fellowship Hall) next to it. They meet in Fellowship Hall.

Fun Information:
"A macrobiotic diet (or macrobiotics), from the Greek "macro" (large, long) and "bios" (life), is a dietary regimen that involves eating grains as a staple food supplemented with other foodstuffs such as vegetables and beans, and avoiding the use of highly processed or refined foods."

I'll be waiting just inside the dining area for folks, and plan on going by myself anyway! this just sounds too yummy to pass up!
