Dear All, Another weekend full of "Schienenersatzverkehr". For the non-German speakers, I can teach you how to pronounce the word. Anyway, we can still do a CFL trail. But we will change the scenery and go to a different corner of Luxembourg. This one goes from Kleinbettingen to Petange. It looks quite easy. It's just a bit longer than our last trails. I will look for a suitable place for our "obligatory" lunchbreak. Starting point: Kleinbettingen Train Station Destination: Petange Train Station Public transport: L50 from Luxembourg Gare Routière at 10:30 to Kleinbettingen. We leave at the last station of that bus. We will frequent trains back from Petange to Luxembourg. Car: there is parking at both train stations. BUT the bus between Petange and Kleinbettingen is every 2h. I suggest coordinating between each other and organising some carpooling. Any questions? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like you’ve seen in period films such as “Pride and Prejudice”, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. That’s English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like “swing your partner” and “do-si-do,” like you’ve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alá “Riverdance.” Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THAT’s Contra Dancing! Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor.
