I'm here in Sedona for 3 nights after coming down a mountain road that makes Lake Tahoe look tame. If I had known the road went from 7000 altitude to 4000 and had scary turns, I would have gone another way. http://youtu.be/4KIVJ77_Ij4
I left home, Oakley, on Monday taking about 12 hours to get to Laughlin stopping for lunch & rest stops. It was 95 degrees there at 8:30 at night. Tuesday, it was not so hot but the winds were 50 mph so the swimming pool was out of my thoughts. There's a River Run festival and thousands of motorcyclists are invading Laughlin. Travis Tritt is appearing Friday & Credence Clearwater Revisited on Saturday. I stayed at the Edgewater for $19 a night but no frills, no Wifi, no coffee machine in room and no hairdryer. I'm at the Days Inn which has all of that & the hotel's in front of Bell Rock.
I stopped on the way through the desert at Seligman, the town is a whole 3 blocks long, but it's a must see with all the Rt. 66 memorabilia.
I would recommend for people to travel to the SW especially Sedona. Temperatures are about 75 degrees in the daytime & it is a fantastically gorgeous place with red rocks everywhere, even shirts made from red rocks. A Mexican restaurant across the street list snake and cactus on the menu. I was in Wendys nearby & talked to an older man at length on Sedona and hiking so the people are very friendly. Plus gas is less here, $3.49 in Laughlin, $3.19 in Bullhead City.
I'm onward to Las Vegas Saturday to Wednesday for a travel show.
