This group was originally formed to discuss the formation of a hackerspace in the triangle. Since the group's formation, interest has been sparked in every vertex of the Triangle. Our mission changed from creating one mega-hackerspace to creating separate (but equal) hackerspaces throughout the area. Our hope is that by creating multiple spaces in the area, Triangle hackerspaces will be both accessible and convenient for professionals, students, and hobbyists throughout the area.

Hackerspaces (see http://hackerspaces.org) are interdisciplinary creative communities made up of hobbyists, makers, technologists, artists, teachers, and learners throughout the area.

A hackerspace is a physical location where people from different backgrounds, skill sets, and interests, can join together to collaborate on projects, share ideas, and learn from each other. Hackerspaces are member-driven, community/member-funded, 24x7 hubs of creativity, with an emphasis on stretching the limits of the way we think.

Things to Know:

- EVERYONE is welcome. No exceptions.

- Hackerspaces are "Do-ocracies" -- your input is valuable and also directly influential in the evolution of your local hackerspace.

- We currently have a hackerspace in Downtown Durham at 331 W. Main St. -- Come visit!

- We have people interested in starting hackerspaces in all areas of the Triangle. Get involved if you're hoping for a hackerspace closer to home!
