Vegetarian or a vegan? Why?

Vegan. For the animals first, my health second. It's a good thing all around!

If yes, how long have you been a vegetarian/vegan?

I was vegetarian for about 3 years, been vegan for about 3 years now. I think a slower, gradual transition really helped it stick. I can't imagine going back to my old animal-product-laden diet. Seems like a lifetime ago.

What would you like to do with/get from this group?

Pretty much want to hang out with and make connections within the veg*n community. I love to cook and create/tweak recipes; I find vegan cooking exciting, challenging, and colorful—it's my passion. I also want the to share humor and camaraderie with like-minded folks...there's increasing numbers of vegans, but we're still a minority and it can be tough to deal with the stuff out there in rest of the world. It helps to laugh and have fun.

I love animals and have since I can remember, so animal welfare is important to me. I want to live in a way that reflects my values, so what I eat and the products I use (or don't :) and the people I surround myself with matter a lot.
