Please consider arriving at least a half an hour early to walk them and get them acclimated to the park before class.

Looking forward to today's class. Thanks Lisa for your comments re clicker. Last night Jackson did his trick list for our 92 yr old dying neighbor, whom he loves, and his 2 adult children. They were impressed and Jack was a good boy....with all he knows spinning is difficult to make perfect I think, because he is basically a JRT all he wants to do is a jump twist but we are working on it. Bringing 2 friends hope they like it too. See you soon. Jane

Lisa, I have a question about the clicker training. Jackson already knows a bunch of tricks/commands like sit, shake, other, hurt paw, slap me five, down, pray, roll over, bang your dead, sit up, and jumping through hoops. All this has been done without a clicker, actually in his first year with me. I like the other tricks you have on the sheet and want him to learn more but I don't want to confuse him with the clicker and know that I won't always have the clicker with me when I want him to do what I ask. Do you mind if we continue without the clicker? And, what do you feel are the benefits of clicker training?

Hi Jane, I am very impressed with Jackson's tricks list and most any trick can be taught with out clickers with the use of a marker word like "Yes". I personally prefer to use a clicker when I train my dog to perform a new trick/behavior because their is no emotion in the tone/noise the clicker makes and there is scientific proof that dogs and other animals respond better to the sound of a clicker than the tone of our voices, once it is a learnt behavior on Brody's part I replace the clicker with a marker word followed by a treat. I only ask that you all charged the clicker so that as our class progresses I can better help you with your home training to break down and shape the behaviors you want your dogs to perform. So yes you can absolutely continue with out a clicker... Lisa

We are both having a great time learning new tricks and being challenged in a positive way! I think Willow is just as excited as me when she learns something new. Thanks Lisa!
