TriZPUG October 2013 Meeting: Jessica McKellar

To get full and timely notifications of all TriPython events and discussions, subscribe to the TriPython email list here. Full information about TriPython is available on the website at http://tripython.org.

Jessica McKellar, a director of the Python Software Foundation, will speak to us after her appearance at the All Things Open conference. As always, spontaneous lightning talks of ten minutes or less on other topics are also welcome. Anything you've learned about Python, no matter how trivial, can be a lightning talk. There's plenty of parking at Caktus and we can walk to nearby after-meeting watering holes.

I wish Jessica could have been there for the self-introductions. I was humbled by what a strong and accomplished python community we have in the RTP. I hope Jessica goes home with a good report and a burn to come back to RTP with more of her posse, ready to mentor (and maybe even learn something new in trade.)

Our 11th anniversary meeting and it was the highest attended TriPython meeting ever. Jessica's talk on "How the Internet Works" was enjoyable for skill levels. Alan Viars and Erik Rose gave excellent lightning talks on MongoDB in Django and the Blessings library respectively. The after meeting at Milltown was very well attended as well. A great night!

I'm not coming tonight, would miss some quality family time. But am still interested in hearing from anyone in Trizpug who would be interested in a support engineer job with a pretty neat visualization tool for aerospace/automotive/mechanical engineers which uses a lot of python. Check it out at video.ceisoftware.com

Our company, CEI, www.ceisoftware.com, is now looking for a support engineer. Since our product, EnSight, uses python extensively for a scripting/customization capability I thought trizpug might be a good place to meet potential candidates. We are based in Apex (Laura Duncan/Salem St. area).
