Starting at Port Clinton, Monday will include the 6 miles to Windsor Furnace Shelter. Tuesday, 9 miles to Eckville Shelter. Wednesday, 7 miles to Allentown Shelter. Thursday, 4 miles to 309. These are shorter distance days with the idea of getting out and away for a bit. Plus, cooler weather takes more out of you. It's too early for an exact forecast but averages this time of year have highs in the low 40's and lows overnight in the high 20's. Appropriate gear for this weather (4 season tent, cold weather bag, etc.) a must. Car pooling can be arranged but some vehicles will have to be left at either end (Port Clinton and 309 AT lots). Shelters: Windsor Furnace Shelter; sleeps 8. Eckville Shelter; sleeps 6. Allentown Shelter; sleeps 8. TO TRAILHEAD: Start: From I-78 take the route 61N exit. Go west on Broad St. over RR tracks. Parking on the left. End: If coming from the east on I-78: Take Exit 49B and go north on PA 100. In about 9 miles this ends at PA 309. Go left on PA 309 7.5 miles to the top of the ridge.
