What we’re about

Welcome to the Southern Arizona's #1 camping network!

Our focus is backpacking, but also car camping and do more: Hiking, socializing and basically anything a fun group of backpackers like to do: Small evening hikes to all week treks, long strenuous all-day hikes to river tubing and socializing in the local bar, beginners' to advanced backpacking trips, canyoneering and climbing. As a member, please browse our calendar regularly, and you'll find the right trip for you! Or look at a summary of some of our past and planned trip and info on our meetings.

There are many hiking groups in Tucson. While backpackers hike, and hiking is usually the starter drug for backpackers, we are a different kind of people. Find out for yourself!

If you're from Tucson, and are addicted (to camping only, please!), this is your group; and you are the group! Whatever you like doing related to camping - we'd like to share it! So, take a moment to fill out the polls and tell us what you'd like us to do. Planning a trip and have room for more people? Interested in leading a trip or getting involved? Just us an email with your questions or suggestions.

If you're just getting into backpacking, you'll also find some information on gear etc. in our files section. However, the best entry is just doing it: Start hiking, hiking more till you get tired of it, car camping to try out your gear, then graduate to backpacking!

There is a fee to join. $10 dollars for a 1-year membership or annual dues. For some advanced backpacking trips requiring a permit you must pay. We are based out of Tucson and most of our members live in Southern AZ. A lot of our trips take us far though, so we have members from CA, NM, WA...

Please note that by signing up, you take full responsibility for your own health and safety, and agree with our disclaimer and rules. All trips on this site are private trips and you participate at your own risk. Also note that this is an online forum.

Trip organizers frequently send out updates, information and questions to the group. Make sure you receive those messages and answer within a day. If you are removed from a trip, check your email filter settings, spam folders for unanswered emails, your answers regarding assumption of risk, in the sign-up list as well as your profile, and your payment for the deposit. If you get removed from the group, try signing up again and re-consider your answer regarding the assumption of risk.

Happy trails!
