Welcome to the Tucson Backpackers!
We go backpacking, but also do: Car camping, hiking and socializing - basically anything a fun group of backpackers like to do. Our trips range from small evening hikes to all week treks, from long strenuous all-day hikes to river tubing and socializing in the local bar. We regularly go car camping in pristine locations and have beginners' backpacking trips; and you'll find advanced trips and canyoneering. Please browse our calendar, and you'll find the right trip for you!
If you're new to backpacking, you'll also find some information on gear etc. in our files section.
There is no fee to join or membership dues. We are based out of Tucson and most of our members live in Southern AZ. A lot of our trips take us far though, so we have members from CA, NM, WA...
Remember - you are the group! Whatever you like doing related to camping - we'd like to share it! So, take a moment to fill out the polls and tell us what you'd like us to do. The Tucson Backpackers are turning one year old! Come to our meeting and celebrate with us at our monthly meeting!
It'll be at a private appartment complex near Sunrise and Kolb. There will be a Hot Tub Whirlpool and a pool, so don't forget your bathing suit and towel for this party. It's a potluck, so bring some food, and your favourite drink. Note: No glas containers! We will have tables and a BBQ set up. Read more
