Teach your child sign language! I will teach anywhere in the Twin Cities Metro area! You can choose private lessons or small group lessons and meet other signers as well!

So let's imagine that it is lunchtime, you are at the mall and your 8-month old can instantly make hand signs to indicate that he is thirsty, and wants milk (instead of juice or water) with his lunch. Believe it or not, your infant can tell you now if: his tummy hurts; he can tell you right away when he wants a bottle, (and what he wants in it!), his pacifier, his favorite video, an apple, a banana, a cookie, a sandwich, even his purple blankie, without you having to pull each item asking, the familiar “This? Or this? Is this what you want?“ Imagine avoiding that potential meltdown due to immediately understanding that your 13-month old is signing that he wants to wear green socks (yes specifically the color green!); and not the blue socks you have already picked out!

Teaching American Sign Language (ASL) signs to newborns, infants and toddlers facilitates communication between parent/child and/or caregiver and child. When babies learn sign language, this skill provides him or her with a powerful educational tool of earlier communication. Frustration and outbursts are lessened, because baby can immediately communicate his wants/needs until he can physically pronounce it. Learning sign language does not delay speech, but in fact aids in speech development. Most baby signers speak earlier than babies who do not learn baby sign language.

*For you and your child/children.* Add spouse/childcare assistant/partner/grandparent as your guest. (No charge for a guest!) This is an 8 week class and will cost $140.00. Classes will be every Monday at 2pm for 8 weeks. Materials will be supplied. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me!
