There are very few reasons why I would recommend NOT playing Ultimate, especially on a Thursday evening during the summer. The NexGen (all-star College ultimate team) vs. Machine (Chicago's elite men's club ultimate team) exhibition match is one of them. I forwarded an email along earlier with some of the details. A link is here - http://www.nexgentour.com/
Basically, it's a chance to watch some really high-level Ultimate in person, for something like $5-$10. It starts at 7:30 PM at Lane Tech HS. I'm really excited for this, and will be leaving our game around 6ish (maybe earlier) to go watch. I'd be happy to carpool with anyone else interested (though we can't leave the cars at Busse).
If you've never seen "good ultimate," then this is a great opportunity to spectate and ask questions. "Why are they lining up like that?" "What was he yelling, and why?" "What violation was called there?" I think that for the majority of our regulars, going and actively watching this will improve your game significantly more than playing a couple more hours of pick-up.
They play Madison on Friday (but that's Zoot's shindig) and are in Minnesota on Sunday to play Sub-Zero. If you're in those areas (Jason...?), then those would be some pretty sweet games to watch as well.
Also, Vijay has mentioned that Meetup now has this Mobile app thing for fancy-phones, so RSVPing is super-easy.
See you on the field,
