There has been talk of a Halloween party, in addition to "costume Ultimate" that weekend.

There has been talk of going to watch the Bears / Packers game this Sunday (leaving ultimate a little earlier than normal). Possibly the Hoffman Estates BWW, possibly somewhere else.

There has been talk of a Holiday party at Tony's, probably in early-ish December.

There has been talk of a "game night," with board games / card games / etc. Scrabble, Euchre, Apples to Apples, Twister, Puerto Rico, and a number of others have been mentioned. Location and timeframe are kind of TBD, though I might get around to cleaning up my place enough to have some people over.

As of right now, it looks like November is a pretty open month in terms of social events. I've been lightly peer pressuring Zoot to host another potluck / party thing. Note that we probably need to convince the rest of his family.

There look to be two frisbee-related Thanksgiving-ish events. First, the West Dundee folks are likely going to have a HAT tournament ("randomishly" assigned teams, sort of like how we tried doing the Labor Day tourney, but they get people for like 6+ teams). More details to come in the next few months, once it starts getting organized. They've done this for the past 2-4 years or so. A number of us from Busse went last year and had a blast. I will strongly encourage everyone to show up to this, and will probably "unofficially" cancel our Busse game for it.

Second, there has been talk of an "old guys vs. new guys" (NOT age) game around Thanksgiving. Basically, separating the group into "People that started playing at Busse before x time vs. people that started playing at Busse after x time." Since our membership has kind of exploded the past few years, we'll likely have a lot more "new" people. Still an idea in its infancy, but Thanksgivingish looks like a time that might work.

The more observant of you out there may have noticed that I used the phrase "there has been talk of..." quite a bit. If you have an idea (social event, frisbee event, something to make the group better in any fashion), please speak up. I try to keep track of a bunch of things and inform people of events that are going on, but I certainly don't run them all, and I almost definitely forget about a few here or there. If you want to run / host an event, I can help spread the word (example: we had about a dozen people head to Chick-fil-a after frisbee on Tuesday). OH YEAH! That reminds me (see, another event I forgot about). Shivi mentioned that on Saturday (a frisbee day, of course), there are a bunch of culture-related places that are open for free (Art Institute, Planetarium, etc.) However, you have to register somehow on some website. She said she was going to post the link, but that hasn't happened yet. If interested, I'd just search Google for more details. Google is the best.

Anyway, to paraphrase PBS, this group runs so smoothly because of a lot of little efforts (and some reasonably big ones) by members like you.

See you on the field,
