August 3rd Cookout Update

Hello all, and Happy Friday!

I hope no one's property was severely damaged in the rain storms and microbursts this morning, I know Elgin got POUNDED!

Onto the greasy grilled goodness I'm sure everyone is dying to hear about: our August 3rd Cookout! One warning: it will be about 95 degrees and slightly humid this Sunday, so we?re all going to have to watch ourselves out there. I?m talking hydration, pacing ourselves once we eat, and staying cool (and not overloading on alcohol, which dehydrates). I?ll have an emergency kit with me, as well as some powdered Gatorade that can mix with the well water to rehydrate (and replenish!) anyone who goes down.

We have had a fairly strong response from people, and the consensus of those of us who are bringing things is this: if you show up "forgetting it was today," or not bringing something but still hoping to mooch, there's a Target right up the street we'll point you to. I'll draw maps...you will go and pick up food for everyone. It?s as cut and dry as that.

That being said, here?s what?s?been said.

Being brought already / contributed:
1 smokey joe charcoal grill, charcoal
1 tailgate grill
Cooking utensils
Pickles
2 bags of Doritos
A cooler with some ice
Veggie burgers
Soda pop
A bag of chips with French onion dip
16 hamburger buns
Blue burgers
Plates, napkins, aluminum tins for meat
A dessert dish to pass
$25

We need:
16 more hamburger buns
16 hot dog buns
Tomato, onion, lettuce, and other burger toppings
A bag of pretzels
A folding table (for food)
CUPS
Anything else you can think of

The $25 will get us enough meat for everyone. Leftover cash will be entrusted to someone to run to the Target to get extra supplies for the cookout.

Simple little things everyone can do: sometime before the cookout, go to a McDonalds, a Wendy?s, Arbys?wherever, and ?utilize? some plastic utensils, condiments, and whatever else your grubby little fingers can grab a hold of?if everyone goes and gets 5 packets of mayo, mustard, and ketchup we?ll be set up for life?I?ve done it before.

Thank you VERY MUCH for everyone who has contributed, for those who have said ?I?ll get whatever we need? and for those who responded in some way. A smaller, but equally resounding, thank you to those who are going to show up with their hands in their pockets, because you?ll be in charge of getting last-minute things at Target.

Regards,

Chadd

P.S. DON'T FORGET TO RSVP!!!!
