Interview Presentation Skills Practice

  • June 20, 2013 · 6:00 PM

So you have landed the interview, now what? Many companies expect that you will be ready to share the process behind a piece from your portfolio during the interview. Are you prepared to present? If not, we would love to help. Join us for the Interview Presentation Skills Practice.

In this interactive session you will have 10 minutes to present a project to a group of experienced hiring managers and peers. Be prepared with a slide deck and your talking points. You will walk away a little braver, with some experience presenting in front of a group and with valuable feedback on your presentation.

Who should attend:
Anyone who wants to practice presenting during an interview. Designers and developers are welcome. Junior candidates or people who are farther along in their careers who want to keep these skills sharp.

If you are attending:
You are not presenting your portfolio, rather a project from it in detail. You will need to bring a computer with the presentation on it or have it available online. (Slideshare is a good option: http://www.slideshare.net/)

Massive thanks to everyone: for hosting, presenting, and offering great feedback. It was really exciting to see what other people are doing and to get ideas for how to improve. I had a great time!

Thanks for hosting this event. Promoting communication about art, tech, and ideas is always good. After seeing who is involved in tomorrows event I thought of a few questions that might serve everyone.

    - Whether someone brings a personal computer or uses Slideshare on the provided computer...will we be showing our content through a larger monitor or screen? - Is an embedded movie OK within a slideshow for folks that have content that moves? - Will there be speakers for content with audio?

Thanks for your feedback. See you all soon.

Something came up and I won't be able to make it! I'll be at the next one though. Here's a spot for someone waiting! Sorry if this is such late notice.

Fine art and graphic design student here. In my senior year at NCAD and looking for some valuable practice! I like to talk about my work but there are definitely some areas I need to improve on. Excited to be there!
