This week we will be focusing on showing everyone how to transplant your seedlings into bigger pots once they start to sprout and start to outgrow their space where they were initially planted. If you have seedlings at home bring them along and we can help you out. Otherwise, you can assist in transplanting in our nursery greenhouse. We will be transplanting. tomatoes, squash type, and others this week. We will also be starting other flats of more seeds to be sharing with everyone as well.
We will be providing seeds, soil medium, greenhouse, water, etc. everything needed to start seedlings for your garden. With each tray flat that you plant here in our greenhouse, you will get to take 1/2 of the seedlings home when they reach transplant stage later in the spring!! We look fwd to having you join us this Spring. If you can't make it Wed make arrangements for another day to come!!
I hope spring is finding everyone well and excited for gardening. I have not been as attentive to this meet up as an organizer as we have spent the last year cleaning, reorganizing, revamping and renaming what is now The Green Street Urban Farm Health and Spiritual Homestead. We have now offically and enthusiastically expanded our scope to include addressing Body, Mind and Spirit in our approach to everyday healthy food prep, eating and living amongst our residents and community outreach. Wednesday focus will be hands on Spring Garden Prep and Seedling Starting. We would also welcome discussion in events to be held in our revamped community multipurpose space--workshops, yoga, tai chi, healing arts, martial arts, music, house concerts, potlucks, etc. Come check out our updated venues and garden spaces-- We will be serving coffee, tea and breakfast/brunch in the later part of morning/afternoon and dinner in the evening. Feel free to bring a Potluck item if inspired, but not necessary. Come by and join in at any time. Walk on in to folks in the house, look out back in Greenhouse and hoop houses, through the fence with the chickens, or we will be across the street at the community garden approx 885 Green street. If you can't make it this Wed, we wil be looking to continue Wed as weekly event. We are also accepting resident applications and have a few openings for those interested in living here. give us a call tel[masked]
