Urban Bike and Social Club Annual Fundraiser for San Diego County Bike Coalition

As many of you may know I founded the Urban Bike and Social Club in 2009. Through the years we have had a lot of fun and taken a ton of social rides. In general I focus on building bicycle culture here in San Diego through fun and fun events. However I would like to a bit serious for a second, and take a look around at the main organizations in San Diego that put their heart and soul into trying to make our city the best place to ride bikes possible.

Each year from now forward I am going to challenge our club and its members to put a bit of money where our interests obviously lie. Challenging myself and all 1676 of you to renew or join/donate $30 a year to The San Diego County Bike Coalition. The San Diego Bike Coalition is the oldest and arguable most powerful bike advocacy and lobbying groups in San Diego.

So if you like bikes and riding them, and want to see biking and bike infrastructure only get better, this is a great organization to support. For the price of one bar tab (a small bar tab for most of us!), you have the opportunity to join with us and make a potentially nice size funding difference for the SDCBC. My goal would be to see at least 20% or 335 of our members donate $30 or more dollars (which I believe is tax deductible!) to help the SDCBC continue and grow the good work they do for us every day.

I have talked to Andy and his team over at the SDCBC about potentially have a keg happy hour social if we can get at or very, very close to the 20% goal so lets try to reach it. If you feel the same as I do about this please use the link below they provided me to renew or donate $30 to the SDCBC this year!

Thanks for considering my request and digging out your happy hour money for all of us that like riding in San Diego! Please only join the event if you have already renewed your membership with the SDCBC, or are going to join through this fundraising event. We will be keeping track of all donations, and I will be working on Andy to be liberal with his war-chest of beer sponsorship should we reach our 335 member goal!!!
