About the Presentations and Speakers

Colin Phillips, SharePoint Consultant - itgroove (http://www.itgroove.net) (blog: http://mmman.itgroove.net )

Title: SharePoint Apps for the End User

Overview: There's been a lot of talk about Apps in the new SharePoint 2013, and a lot of people are still confused about what they are, how they can benefit end users, and why you'd even need them. This presentation will help you understand their value (for both the end-user and the business), how they work in your environment (on premise or in the cloud – Office 365), and will give you a first-hand look at a handful of apps, and how we use them in house (at itgroove) to benefit our own processes. This presentation is meant for business users to understand what Apps mean to them (sorry developers, we've already done a dev session on apps).

Bio: Colin is a SharePoint Consultant for itgroove. He is a graduate of UVic and has over 12 years’ experience in both software development and IT infrastructure. His background working at both small and large companies (including 5 years at Cognos) has given him a wealth of knowledge. Among Colin’s areas of experience includes workflow, VMware, systems monitoring, XSL/XSLT, JavaScript, and many more. Check out Colin's blog at http://mmman.itgroove.net

Finally, I will discuss the role I see SharePoint taking as it relates to the colleges strategic plan for IT.
