Subject: [ECRICKET] Crack down on Occupy Wall St. & Doug Wight

Hello Friends,

Last night/early a.m. the NYPD cracked down on Occupy Wall St., just like police and administrations have been cracking down on Oakland's Occupy movement and the Occupy Movement more in general now and just the day before the Occupy Wall St. movement's 2 month anniversary.
(see NYT article: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/16/nyregion/police-begin-clearing-zuccotti-park-of-protesters.html ).
Doug Wight -- who had been residing at Lupinwood, and had just undergone hip replacement surgery in October,
had joined Occupy Wall St. at Zuccotti Park for several weeks now.
He called John and I to tell us what was going on.
This included that the protestors have at least a temp. court order to be able to go back to Zuccotti Park.
And there is a big protest at City Hall in NYC today.

Doug also shared that most personal property of the protestors had been taken/stolen and
would be nearly impossible or impossible to recover.
His computer, camera and more were taken by the Police and cleaning squad.
He is asking for a fund raising effort via E-cricket to help him get the funds to
buy another lap-top and stay on with the movement.
He has a non-profit. He is working as an international freelance reporter covering the movement.
We'll talk with him more ASAP about whether making a check out to that non-profit would be the best way to go,
So, please stay tuned if you are interested.

NOTE:
I will also be going down to NYC and to the Occupy Movement on Nov. 27 and could take some things to him and others.
I hope to do a stilt dance piece there alone or with others called Rise Up.
If you want to meet me there or stilt dance or clown with me...I want to keep it easy/simple, but let me know asap.

Please be in touch if interested in supporting or sending funding for Doug to get another lap top and camera,
and also if you want to support my trip down.

Thanks, Maya
