Functors, Applicatives and Monads, oh my!

My colleage Byron will give his talk on the basic theoretical underpinnings of FP in Scala. It's at least an hour if you include questions and examples. Here's his synopsis:

Typeclass basics in Scala -- A brief introduction to implicit parameters and the encoding of typeclasses. The Equals typeclass The Functor -> Monad stack of typeclasses with examples. Why we care -- A few examples of real benefits of using these constructs in our code.
