Chicago VeganMania

Chicago VeganMania is a celebration of this dynamic new community. We bring together the vegan restaurants and food companies, leaders and entrepreneurs, doctors and chefs, businesses and organizations, singers and dancers, and we put them in one big place to show them all off to the world.

• At its center, Chicago VeganMania will feature the 22,000 sq ft Exhibit Hall (more than double the size last year’s three big halls combined!), that will house our amazing Vegan Food Court (more than a dozen restaurant vendors), a large dining area, and space for at least 100 exhibiting vendors.

• Our Chef Demo Stage is located in a gorgeously renovated second-floor space featuring bamboo flooring and large windows that provide a view of the festivities below.

• Directly below the Chef Demo Stage is a brand new feature: the Workshop Room, that provides a more casual and intimate setting for panels and interactive events.

• The Presenter Stage, featuring top vegan leaders, is in the Southest corner of the Exhibit Hall.

• The Culture Café is also getting a big makeover, with a larger room and a larger stage for a roster full of great musical acts, as well as a live artists, gourmet coffee and a vegan milk bar. The Culture Café is right off the Exhibit Hall, but will feel like a completely different world.

I will change my RSVP to NO if no one can join me or has room for me. I would appreciate if those going would reply - either way - as far as how you are traveling, where you are staying. I am wondering if I have any other options. ?

    Thanks, Krystalle for your email!

How is each of you traveling? All MEGA-Bus? Where staying?
I really want to attend but won't drive by myself rd-trip 7 hours.

I am looking for travel companion/s to share conversation & gas/toll costs 1-way or round-trip. With 2 of us: $37.50 each Rd Trip If 3 in the car, cheaper than that.

Option: You can share my booked room or be dropped off to visit others/do your own thing.
Expenses: Round-Trip> $37.50 each for gas + some for tolls
    $54.00 IF 2 sharing room(Total w/taxes & fees @$108
Total Expense with both gas & room = $91.00
Cheaper if 3 of us travel together
    Leave My House: 6:30am Sat
Arrive Chicago: @10am MI time/ 9am Chicago Time
Sat night: If anyone wants, we can go to 2nd City or ?
Sunday: If anyone willing, we can decide to spend time downtown.
I have a list of neat things we can do for free or fee.
Leave Chicago: Will agree on a “no-later than” time.
Example: If leave at 4pm,arrive home MI time, my house> 8:30pm

For those wanting to meet up at the event, I will be at the Chicago Vegan Group table at noon in the exhibit hall. This is the time that various vegan groups will be meeting at that location. All is welcomed to join, but of course not required.

I'll be in Chicago that weekend. If anyone needs a ride back, let me know. I highly suggest MegaBus for getting here.

I lived in Evanston for 8 years...

ANYONE WILLING TO SHARE ROOM WITH ME WALKING DISTANCE to Vegan Mania? Room booked June 30 is for 1-4 people. Assumed at least one of you would room with me...apparently wrong? But, want to be with you for at least travel and meals/other...$89per night plus taxes so w/taxes >>>@$55 for2 & less than $30 night if 4.

Heart O' Chicago Motel Ranked #98 in Chicago hotels $89per night 5990 North Ridge Ave, Chicago, IL, 60660 United States ‎[masked] (My 1st choice was already booked full that weekend.)

I want to travel with others - not go by myself. Please let me know what you all decide and please include me in he group's plans. If I don't cancel my place to stay - want to still drive together & get together for fun/meals. Plan to drive but can be a paying rider. I can take 2 easily - 3 maybe but then a bit cramped. Pontiac Vibe.

I suggest you find some cheapo motel near Ohare where the parking is free and easy, there's a million of them but stay north of Irving Park Road.

Evanston Ill, which is just north of this event also has cheap hotels but the parking is a small problem but doable.

the biggest problem you'll encounter is street parking near the event, which is hard to find and Chicago parking meters are famously expensive. Another option is taking public transit (train or bus). From Evanston, it's easy, from Ohare, it's not so easy. An Evanston cab can get you to Veganmania for 20 bucks assuming he takes the shortest route lol. that's 5 bucks per person, if you go by fours, but you'll have to take a Chicago cab back which can cost 30 bucks. Vancabs run on the same meter rate and hold even more people.

P.S. Evanston is a beautiful college town, full of victorian mansions, a great place to take an evening walk and is more like GR than a megacity.
