This meetup group is for those who practice kindness and non-violence toward all animals and would like to see a moral paradigm shift, whereby animals are no longer regarded as resources to be owned and used. At the very least, this means being vegan and choosing not to commission the exploitation of animals when it comes to our choices for food, clothing and entertainment.
You are encouraged to join if you are not yet vegan but are passionate about and in the process of becoming vegan for ethical reasons. This group provides support and resources to new vegans along with education on animal rights. This group is not intended for those who are vegan for solely dietary or environmental reasons.
For those interested in activism, we will practice outreach in our community with creative vegan education. Rather than protests or welfare reform, this group will focus on friendly leafleting with abolitionist vegan materials, promoting companion animal adoption and spay/neuter programs, encouraging eateries to include vegan dishes on their menu, screening movies, and other creative approaches that advocate for veganism as a moral baseline.
Animal Rights Tucson will also have occasional meetups including dining, nightlife, outdoor activities, and field trips, providing the opportunity to take a timeout from a world of systemic animal use and find an oasis where you can socialize exclusively with others who view our world through the same lens you do.
In addition to supporting each other and advocating for veganism, we may also discuss environmental, nutritional and human rights issues.
