Davidsonville ride this Sunday

A former member
Post #: 8
Atlantic cycling wil be doing their monthly ride this Sunday starting at Davidsonville. This is a great ride with rest stops. Go to for info. I will be there between 8:30 and 8:45. If you make it there come by and say hello. I leave with the last group wich keeps a pace of 20+ depending on terrain. You ride your own pace with friends if you'd like or join us. Trust me it's fun. Hope to see some of you out there.

Davidsonville Tour - Sunday June 25, 2006

Atlantic Cycling would like to invite you to one of our finest Eastern Shore rides! You do not have to deal with Bridge traffic so that is a real Bonus!! (Sorry Cambridge Tri guys!)

This is many of our members favorite ride!! There are 41 and 61 mile ride options. We begin in Davidsonville, and take country roads through Anne Arundel County. We will eventually be led to Chesapeake Beach, where we can rest and refuel at the pavillion on the boardwalk and take in the grand view of the Chesapeake Bay. This ride is a treasure for all to enjoy, and though much of it is flat, there are many rolling hills to savor. We will definitely be serving watermelon as part of our refueling food, and some riders in the past have even been known to refresh by taking a dip in the Bay when they got to the second rest stop at the Beach!!

Some reminders:

Registration opens at 8:00 and closes promptly at 9:00 am. $10 for the ride and $10 membership fee if you have not already joined this year.

No bathrooms at start, but there are flush toilets available at both rest stops!

Free water bottles to the first 150 participants.....IF THE BOTTLES ARRIVE IN TIME!!! - May have defer them to the Thurmont ride.

Make sure to bring Sunscreen - going to be a beautiful summer day!

Directions to start (Southern High School)

From 495 Take 50 east for approximately 14 miles
Or from MD 97 Take 50 west
Exit on MD 424 South (Davidsonville Road)
Proceed on MD 424 (becomes Birdville road)
Turn right on MD 2 (Solomans Island road)
Proceed to the school on the right (approx. 2 miles)

Hope to see you all there!!
