Square Dance Party!

One of our members and good friend Ruth is a professional square dance caller.

Come join us for a different kind of Meetup and help a great cause as well.

Enjoy a lively evening of music and dance.  Square dancing brings people together so it’s a perfect fit for a Meetup event.  With absolutely no prior square dance experience, you will be up and dancing within minutes as Ruth, a professional square dance caller, leads us through an evening of square dancing, line dancing and other Country/Western dancing.

Don’t have a partner?  Don’t worry, we will help pair you up and mixer dances will help you get to know more folks as well.

Free admission for each $15 donation per person made at www.avonwalk.org/goto/ruthrh by March 26th 11:59 p.m.  (there are no added fees for online donation)

Or Donate $20 at the door for admission

If you cannot be present at the event but would still like to make a donation, please feel free to do so at the same link.  All donations are tax-deductable.

It's official...Due to popular demand, I will be holding another event on May 3rd. I wasn't originally planning it,but since so many people asked. This time it will be on a Saturday so folks don't need to rush from work. This will definitely be the last for awhile though.

We had a GREAT time! It was fun and Ruth was very entertaining and helpful. It was something to witness everyone moving in sync. Anyone passing by would have thought we had done this for years! Very worth the time and effort. I hope you do this again!

I'm thinking about another event at the end of April or beginning of May...Sports Basement had offered their space initially and I'm going to see if those dates are available. I still have a bit more to go for my goal. If folks want to see these new experts in action, check out... https://www.facebook.c...

I have been asked on a couple Meetups what the dress code is.

First, I will say I don’t believe in telling other people what to wear, except for safety reasons. So, with that in mind, I ask that you not wear flip-flops (they’ve been known to go flying when kicking ☺ ) and I’d prefer you not wear very high heels.

Beyond that, wear what you please. I’d expect anything ranging from what people wore to work to folks who like to dress up (especially in twirling skirts) when they go dancing. I’d also expect some people will be wearing outfits to fit the theme, so country/western clothing or “modern” square dance clothing (petticoats and twirling skirts).

I recommend comfortable shoes. No tread or little tread (leather soles are best) will be the best for easily moving around the floor, especially when spinning.

I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

My estimate from other groups is conservative. We actually have a total of over 30 people who have said they will be joining us. That should give us a fun group, but square dancing is one of those activities where the more the merrier really holds true. I hope we'll see even more signups over the next couple days.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
