vienna.rb meetup #6

NTRY Ticketing OG will sponsor this edition. You know, because they're awesome.

We'd love to experiment a little with pair programming sessions! For this meetup we reserve 18:00 - 19:00 for pairing, with the talks starting at 19:15. Would you like to have one of our talented members review your code? Or do you need to do some refactoring and are you in desperate need of talking to another human being? Or are you just looking for collaborators on your pet project / Next Awesome Startup Idea? Drop by at 6pm and we'll hook you up with a partner (that sounds wrong right there...)!

The Talks*

Klaus Kühnhammer - NTRY (sponsor talk)

Sebastian Nozzi - Using Cucumber in Scala

Peter Kofler - Software Craftsmanship Journeyman Tour

* Feel free to send in a talk proposal. We want to hear from all of you!

@Andreas: I found this blog post for you. It gives many good examples of what's possible with Scala's pattern matching.

just walk in, siebenbrunnengasse 44, I'll put up some signs!

      1 · September 5, 2013

    • Sebastian N.

It was an excellent idea to put those signs. I'll suggest that for our Scala meetups. I really like this "attention to detail" ;-)

Since I caught a pretty bad cold, in the interest of not infecting everyone else I won't be able to make it tonight. Sorry :(

This is the second meetup where D3js comes up. Unfortunately I haven't used it so far.

In that week I am @ Sektor 5 and would like to add a lightning talk about my "Software Craftsmanship Journeyman Tour", approx. 10 minutes,

    • Peter K.

just FYI - somehow I ended up with more slides than anticipated. Probably the talk needs 20 minutes instead of 10 as I said earlier. Should still fit in here ;-)

      2 · August 31, 2013

    • Floor D.

No worries! Looking forward to your talk!

      1 · August 31, 2013

I am also offering myself for any pair programming needed in the time 18-19. In case you have no problem to discuss we can do a code kata just for fun.

  • Gerald B.

Looking forward to the next meetups. If there's any interest always happy to prepare a talk, for example, "Building HTTP APIs (web services) with Ruby (and Sinatra)" or something else alltogether (e.g. Using Java w/ Ruby e.g. JRuby; Building Web Pages from Web Feeds w/ Ruby etc.). Enjoy the summer. Cheers.

    • Floor D.

Can I put you on the speakers list, with a talk on Sinatra? Like "Building HTTP APIs (web services) with Ruby (and Sinatra)"? :)

      August 26, 2013

    • Gerald B.

Sure. Please, do. If got enough speakers lined up this month works great next month (October) too. Cheers.

      August 26, 2013

  • Florian S.

if I may, I'd like to attend and meet all the ruby people of vienna ;)
I'm part of the dev team with the Diaspora* project and I have had a nice meeting with Andreas to discuss the RailsGirls SoC project we're currently coaching.
I also have a brand-new gem that could need some reviewing as part of the pair programming: https://github.com/Raven24/diaspora-federation
    :P
