ViennaPHP August Gathering

It's summer and it's time for an open air meetup! Join us for an discussion about the different frameworks and some cold drinks!

We are meeting on Tuesday, August 05, again at 18:30 at Stockwerk. The Open Air Location is right beside the Stockwerk, so we'll serve drinks and snacks at Stockwerk and head over to the event location afterwards.

We are having 6 members of the community taking the side of one framework each. Together with a moderator there will be a discussion about different aspects of frameworks. We'll look into how each of the frameworks differs from the others and where they choose the same approaches. The audience will be asked to participate in the discussion. Afterwards, we'll all know which framework is best for a particular project.

Our participants are:

• Philipp Bergsmann (Flow)

• Johannes Nagl (CakePHP)

• Florian Eckerstorfer (symfony)

• Alex Raskin (slim)

• Roman Kuba (Laravel)

• Thomas Subera (Zend)

The topics we'll discuss will be pretty high level in order to find out where the frameworks differ. We will discuss things like Rapid Application Development, Convention over configuration, Testing, Stability/Roadmap/Community and so on. You are encouraged to bring your own questions - Just keep it high level so everybody can learn!

• Stockwerk, the awesome Co-Working Space in Vienna, is supporting us with a place to meet and helps us organize

Opendo, Typo3 digital agency is not only sending their CEO Philipp to talk about Flow, but also support the meetup with drinks and snacks!

• Web Development company IXOLIT is right now looking for PHP developers. If you are up for something new, talk to Michael Renner at our meetup!

hi guys, sorry for not joining you last week for the August gathering! Sebastian asked me to say some words about our CakePHP development point of view, but it was not possible for me to join in time (because we're running late on a quite big relaunch).

Sebastian sent my some questions, I now want to answer directly here. If there are questions left, please contact me directly and/or comment here or in the gist!

Guys, again sorry for not taking part in your conversation last week. hope to be with you next time. now back to work. the big release is happening very soon :)

Disclaimer: I'm not the biggest fan boy of CakePHP out there (especially when returning to PHP after 2 years of coding ruby on rails) but it's quite ok and stable. it's not as hip as laravel, but who needs hip code, when you can have good cake!

Again a great meetup. Thx Sebastian and the discussion group. Here I found an article on dependency injection in Laravel 4. Guess this is a good start.
