Good point. I'll review the docs on this unit. I'm also scrapping all included memory, but I know what you're saying. The overall system memory bandwidth might have a memory limit based on # of DIMMs used.

My test unit is arriving shortly, so curious to see how it performs. And then depending, I'll pull the trigger and buy a couple. Exciting stuff....

Regarding ���Check with cpu-z that that the dell 980 has actually selected the correct JEDEC timing (usually three to choose from) on the RAM you buy so you are actually getting DDR3-1333 performance.���


When I researched memory speeds in january this year (I know it was a while ago���) it seemed like what you buy is only part of the equation. With the ���X5550 Xeon Processor, 2.66GHz 8M Cache,Turbo, HT, 1333MHz Max Mem��� processor the client got, the memory bank position made a difference, e.g. if all slots were consumed by memory dimms, the overall memory speed would slow to 800mhz.  I have docs on it.  it could be different now���
