We welcome all those with a strong or dominant visual and visual/spatial way of thinking.
WHO ARE YOU / WHO ARE WE
Visual thinkers are not perfectly alike; yet similarities exist. Possibly you have a vivid picture memory, the ability to recall faces but not necessarily names, the ability to see maps but possibly not street names in your head, and the ability to twist objects in your mind. You may need to see the whole picture of concepts and things prior to understanding the parts of things.
You know you 'think different.' You are an independent thinker. Often visual thinkers are entrepreneurial in spirit. Entrepreneurs benefit from seeing the big picture.
Possibly you feel like a square peg and tire of being forced into a round hole, when it comes to school or work. In fact, you may have quit school early through frustration with its verbal-phonetic and bookish environment.
If you have very dominant visual/spatial reasoning you may have been labelled as having dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, autism, or auditory processing deficiency. Incidentally, this group does not accept these ineffective labels for what is symptomatic of a visual and spatial learning and thinking process. This is one thing we want to change.
WHAT WE DO
We do things with like-minded people, who often instantly 'get it' without the need for tiresome explanations.
Grow a strong network of like-minded people with a diversity of view. And, it might help you learn about yourself, and grow your confidence.
OUR MEETUPS
Our meetups include casual coffee with talking or movies to sporty things like hiking, biking, kayaking, skiing. And whatever else strikes the fancy.
OUR SPONSOR
This Meetup is sponsored by the Whole Dyslexic Society, a non-for-profit dedicated to improving the lives of those with dyslexic symptoms that are aggravated by an education system steeped in phonetic learning. The Society actively gives grants to children and young adults in need of education finely tuned to their visual-spatial way of learning and thinking.
