I saw an interview with Kix Brooks recently where among other things he had this to say about songwriting:

"To be a professional songwriter, you're still competing with the best composers in the world. And you have to come to town and get thrown into the water and go to writers nights. And you've gotta do some real serious prayer meetings with yourself and ask yourself, 'Is my music really as good as what these other guys are writing?'"

So this guy is recommending getting together with other writers? Kinda like going to a CSC meeting? Consider RSVPing to a meeting. By the way, here are the qualifications of Kix Brooks who for the last 20 years was half of Brooks and Dunn.

- platinum record sales of more than 30 million
- Best-Selling Country Duo In Country Music History
- 40-Plus Hit-Country Songs, with 20 of those tunes hitting the No. 1 position on the charts
- debut album, Brand New Man, was certified platinum six times over by the sales-certifying RIAA organization
- In the awards area, Brooks & Dunn has landed trophies from the Academy of Country Music, the Grammy Awards, Billboard Music Awards, People's Choice Awards, Country Music Television honors and more, including winning he Country Music Association's Vocal Duo of the Year award every year between 1992 and 2006, except for 2000

Just sayin' that this is a guy who knows how to succeed.

Hope to see some of you tomorrow
