This Monday's Meet Up!

Well, this entry is long overdue.

This will be the first meet up since February and the completion the most recent work shop. CONGRATULATIONS to all who attended. We look forward to seeing those that participated. To all newbies attending this meeting, I encourage you to ask those who attended the workshop how it affected their lives and aspirations to enter this highly competitive field.

This will be the most split on experience of any previous meet up... all the more reason for the newcomer to attend.

Please note that this is a tremendous opportunity to become involved in the industry. Your full commitment is essential if you truly desire success.

At this point I must impress upon all members and future members that if you did RSVP YES and do NOT attend the Meet-up, you WILL be removed from the group permanently. I don't what to remove anyone, but do realize that the meet up is limited to 20, and "no shows' prohibit others from attending. Harsh? Not really. I just want folks to know that we take this very seriously and it does require a commitment from you. If you did RSVP yes, and know you can?t attend, please change your RSVP to No. No explanation is necessary, you will remain in good standings, and no action will be taken. I know there are many of you that did not get in on this meet up because of the limit. If any drop out, you will be notified of an opening...
AS ALWAYS, IF YOU REALLY, REALLY REALLY WANT IN, BUT DIDN?T RSVP IN TIME, JUST EMAIL ME. Imagine a FREE meet up where everyone is as dedicated as you are! Wow, what a world.

OK, with that last ugly paragraph out of the way, let?s talk about our agenda. First we will be introducing all the new members. Remember, these folks could be your new best friends, maybe even be invited to their wedding... After introductions, let?s discuss our experience levels and conduct a brief Q&A session. Upon completion...

I will be asking whether we want to focus on Technical, physical, or psychological.

Technical - referring to hardware & software, computer systems, studio applications, sound design, mixing techniques, electronic delivery.

Physical - referring to exercises and actual reading with critique and comments- I can supply scripts.

Psychological - Mentally Preparing for the business: producers, directors, agents, Ad agencies, the audition, marketing yourself. Before session meditations & controlling nervousness (a major issue).

I will ask each of you, and make a slash mark in your chosen category and proceed accordingly.

At 10 pm, discussion will wrap up and I will give each of you an opportunity to (either privately or in front of the remaining group) present a read of your choice. You may write it, copy it from a magazine or take an excerpt from a book. Please limit it to 30 seconds, as most ads fall within this time.

The Meet up begins promply at 7:30 pm. If anyone needs directions, check the meet up site or email me.

Kettle chips (The official snack of the Dallas Voice Acting Meet Up Group) will be served! You?re welcome Michele....

See you Monday!

All the Best,

Cliff & John
