Join the New York City Volumetric Society, an eclectic group of innovators exploring the arts & sciences of a new world of artificial intelligence and natural user interfaces between body, brain, AI and spatially aware computing for the physical world. Come exchange ideas, demo your projects, or just get exposed to our co-created volumetric future with AI, Machine Learning, biometrics, sound, sensor technology VR, AR, brain computer interfaces, immersion, volumetric 3D displays, cameras and telematic interfaces . Everyone is welcome - from advanced hardware hackers to those who would like to learn what can be done with these new technologies in the arts, sciences, healthcare, gaming, academia, and business venture opportunities.

This meetup is to get to know each other outside of Reddit, Discord and other forums and explore possibilities for future collaborations, events, workshops, shows, seminars, hackathons, here in NY and beyond.
Meeting will be hosted by Ellen Pearlman, Visiting Research Scholar at NYU Tandon, and Alexey Yurenev, Faculty International Center of Photography.

Ellen Pearlman is a new media artist, curator, critic and educator. A Research Fellow at MIT and Fulbright Scholar at the University of Warsaw she created "Language Is Leaving Me - A Cinematic AI Opera Of The Skin" which premiered at the Corpenicus Science Center in Warsaw. A Vertigo STARTS Laureate she created "AIBO - An Emotionally Intelligent Artificial Intelligence Brainwave Opera" at The Estonian Academy of Music in Tallinn, and "Noor: A Brainwave Opera" in a 360 degree theater in Hong Kong. Ellen was Director of ThoughtWorks Arts, and is President of Art-A-Hack, a rapid prototyping workshop and methodology. She has shown, lectured, published widely on AI and conducted workshops around the world.Alexey Yurenev is a photographer and visual researcher interested in how technology shapes the production of knowledge and collective memory. Yurenev’s documentary projects have been published in The New York Times, National Geographic, Topic and Literary Hub. His work has been acknowledged by organizations such as Photographer of the Year International, Silurian Society of New York, Dummy Award 24 and nominated for an EMMY, Shorty and FOAM Paul Huf awards. In 2020, Yurenev co-founded a platform dedicated to innovative visual strategies FOTODEMIC.org and became a faculty member at The International Center of Photography in New York. Since 2019, Yurenev has been working on a visual research project, Silent Hero, investigating capacities and limitations of technologies such as machine learning, photography, forensic imaging and interviews with the survivors in generating proximity to histories, specifically a family episode in WWII previously unknown to him. Silent Hero resulted in a book Seeing Against Seeing, graphic novel 17.VII.44, a short film No One is Forgotten and an installation that will be exhibited at FOAM museum in Amsterdam this year.
