Checking In

Greetings voterbook,

Checking in to say hello and ask for your ideas for the next thirteen months leading up to next round of both State and Federal elections. Please send them my way by replying to this e-mail when you have a chance. I just updated our group page and description, so please also let me know what you think.

In the past year we have done happy hours, civic policy discussions and a great event on social media and social change.

Last week I had the opportunity (although brief!) to greet the President when he was in NYC for the UN General Assembly and he looked like he was in good shape, despite the challenges he faces having perhaps the world's most challenging job.

You have probably noticed a lot of e-mails coming from the Obama campaign in the last week. September 30 is a deadline for reporting and the campaign wants to start strong. I have started a personal grassroots campaign and I hope that if you have not already chipped in $5 or $10 for this cycle, you will do so for me today. My page can be found here:

I also encourage you to consider setting up your own grassroots fundraising page and goal. This campaign will be funded by a lot of wealthy people, but everyone should do their part if we want to continue to be governed by President Obama beyond 2012. It is us versus the special interests. And we all must ask ourselves whether we want be governed by a system that encourages "good for some, bad for all" or if we want something better, namely, "for the people, by the people."

Thanks for being a member of voterbook. I look forward to your suggestions and to planning our next get together. The sky is the limit and I remain

Optimistically yours,

p.s. Happy New Year to friends celebrating the holiday today!
