Learn about AR and 3D Sound - VR Philly Meetup #3
Hosted by VR Philly
Details
With the DK2 finally out in the wild, we decided it was time for the third VR Philly meetup. The meetup will take place on November 5th, from 7-10 PM at the Devnuts Hackerspace in Northern Liberties. Recently, we have added a new co-organizer to our team. We’re happy to promote Elias Gorman as Assistant Organizer. He runs the VR dev group at Temple University. and is a major asset to our team in terms of proximity to Philadelphia. Also, I want to say thank you to everyone who filled out the survey that we sent after our last meetup - we have taken your comments seriously and we hope that you will continue giving us valuable feedback. The email that we used to send it was through Gmail, so unfortunately it went to most people’s spam folder. In the next week or so, we’re going to create one email address for us to use so that if you guys have any questions or feedback you are able to contact us without any confusion. Instead of every two months, we’ll be holding meetups once a month. We want to grow this group and help to bring virtual reality to the masses. However, that means we’ll need to charge a small fee of $5 in order to keep up with the expenses. We have also limited the amount of speakers to 2, which gives everyone some more time to demo, and people more time to connect. We’ll also be giving a small presentation each meetup on current VR news. Our last meetup was a great success, and I know that this one will be just as good if not better.
Speakers:
Rod Haxton - VisiSonics, makers of RealSpace3D Audio, recently licensed by Oculus, will be showing how to use their Unity 3D sound plug-in. They will also present demonstrations of their 3D sound technology.
Adebayo Adejare - Talking about a point of interest based augmented reality app for location sharing and geotagging. The app allows users to create their own virtual worlds by overlaying content on the real world and share these worlds with select people or everyone through channels.
He's a blogger of augmented reality and is also developing an augmented reality app for Philadelphia.

Whether you just want to learn about virtual reality or you’re a developer who wants to showcase your talents, we’d love for you to join us. If you have a DK2 or any other VR/AR hardware, feel free to bring it to the event to demo to people. I’m looking forward to it. :)
