Gut And Psychology Syndrome (GAPS) Diet Paleo? Vegan? Metabolic? Blood Type? Low Carb? Raw Food? Body Ecology?
So what is the Gut and Psychology Syndrome (GAPS) Diet and why are we talking about it?
Gut and Psychology Syndrome (GAP Syndrome or GAPS) is a condition, which establishes a connection between the functions of the digestive system and the brain. This term was created by Dr Natasha Campbell-McBride (http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/07/31/dr-natasha-campbell-mcbride-on-gaps-nutritional-program.aspx), MD, MMedSci (neurology), MMedSci (human nutrition) in 2004 after working with hundreds of children and adults with neurological and psychiatric conditions, such as autistic spectrum disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD/ADD), schizophrenia, dyslexia, dyspraxia, depression, obsessive –compulsive disorder, bi-polar disorder and other neuro-psychological and psychiatric problems. But the GAPS Diet doesn't just work for those with the conditions listed above. Many folks with digestive disorders of all kinds have found relief and revitalization via the GAPS Diet. This is because the GAPS Diet focuses on building [or re-building] a healthy gut full of beneficial bacteria, or flora, which fuel the immune system and enable the body to maintain optimal health. Want to learn more about GAPS and how you can include it in your traditional foods lifestyle? We are most fortunate to have Meridian Grace (http://awakeninghealth.com/), a certified GAPS practitioner, as a guest speaker THIS SUNDAY, April 1 at 4:00pm, to explain more about how the GAPS Diet works, how you can apply the GAPS approach to your every day lifestyle, and how it can profoundly impact the quality of your health. You will also learn how to:
- Tweak the Weston A. Price Dietary Guidelines for maximum gut health
- Make delicious GAPS-friendly foods
- Perform a simple test to see if you are allergic to food
- Prepare your immune system so that you can successfully conceive and have healthy children with strong, vital immune systems
Meridian is warm and inviting and will be available to answer all of your questions after her talk.
