Come to a panel discussion hosted by Dignity for Women Worldwide this Thursday at American University. Using a gendered critical lens, speakers will address the hidden forms that contemporary slavery takes in the agricultural and fishing industries as well as in domestic servitude and forced begging.

REMINDER - Did you attend the 2011 DC Stop Modern Slavery Walk? Want to be involved in organizing another successful walk for 2012?
Come to a Walk Interest Meeting and gain a glimpse of what goes into organizing the walk as well as opportunities to get involved in the planning. By becoming a member of the Walk Team, you can make a huge difference in the anti-human trafficking movement, gain valuable skills, and make lifelong friends.
Opportunities exist on all committees including: logistics, promotions, special guests, partner outreach and sponsor outreach. A variety of commitment levels are available.

NEW - Do you have a postdoc level interest in historical and/or contemporary slavery practices and wish to further your research?
Rice University is accepting applications for six yearlong faculty and postdoctoral fellows to participate in the inaugural Rice Seminar "Human Trafficking - Past and Present: Crossing Boundaries, Crossing Disciplines" directed by James Sidbury and Kerry Ward. Applicants of any rank (postdoc to senior) and from all disciplines whose research interests intersect with the humanistic and social scientific study of slavery and human trafficking from the Classical era to the present are encouraged to apply.
Fellows will take part in a yearlong academic “think tank”, leading to the publication of papers in an edited collection with a major university press.
