Hey Everyone,

Here are two upcoming events that you should know about:

1) Students Stopping the Trafficking of People's Annual Conference: Trafficked
When: Saturday, April 18th 2009, 10 AM - 4 PM
Where: Georgetown University, ICC 115

Speakers include Michele Clark from George Washington University as well as representatives from Polaris Project, Not for Sale Campaign, Child Soldier Relief, Free the Slaves, Coalition for Organ-Failure Solutions, International Justice Mission, Shared Hope International, and more! The UNIFEM/USNC Annual Walk to Stop Violence against Women and Girls is a fundraiser for the UN Trust Fund to Eliminate Violence Against Women. It is sponsored by the National CapitalChapter of the US National Committee of UNIFEM.

The UN Trust Fund is the only global multi-lateral grant-making mechanism exclusively devoted to supporting local, national and regional efforts of organizations to combat gender-based violence. Since it began operations in 1997, the Trust Fund has awarded more than US$19 million to 263 initiatives to address violence against women in 115 countries. UNIFEM, the United Nations Development Fund for Women, administers the Trust Fund.

Each walker is encouraged to raise at least $100 (though you may decide to raise much more!) in addition to a registration fee ($20 for non-members, $15 for UNIFEMUSNC members, and $10 for students with a valid ID).

Please consider joining this walk, and encouraging your family and friends to join you in a team! All are welcome.

For more information about registering, please send an email to [address removed].
