Damn! I really wanted to attend this one, but was out of town.
Brian, do you have your slides available at least?

Maybe I missed something in the description of the event, but it would have been nice if the level of expertise of the target audience could have been stated more clearly. As a beginner in web development, I would not have attended this event if I knew that it was going to be at a more advanced level. Also, the presenter made a comment that made it sound like he had just prepared the presentation on the day of the event - and that he almost forgot about it. I was hoping for something a bit more professional. Maybe I interpreted the comment incorrectly, though.

This was my first event that I have attended with this group. The topic was stated as 'intro to PHP Data Objects'. I made the assumption that I needed to already know basic PHP before going into this. You got the bare basics of what you need to know to get data out of a database and put data back into a database. He even provided resources for going deeper into the topic on your own. I think that it was an excellent starting point. Just out of curiosity, what more could the speaker have done to make it better for you?

Hi Michael, thank you for the feedback. I was joking with Dilsah about "almost forgetting". In hindsight, I can see how that may have been taken the wrong way. While it's true I had a trip to the dentist that morning, I put the slides together over a period of several days and sourced the material from a mixture of print and web. My goal was to introduce the PDO API without getting bogged down in boilerplate PHP or digging deep into SQL (a topic of its own). If nothing else, I hope my talk left a cue in the back of your mind to look up prepared statements when you are ready to tackle database programming.

Educational & Enjoyable. Could have used a little more hands-on.
